Albert Traywick Sherwood, 101, entered rest on January 18th, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 23, at 1:00 PM, in Evergreen Cemetery.
He was a WWII veteran. Albert was loved by everyone who met him.Born in Macon April 4, 1919. He lived his whole life in Macon. He attended Lanier High School where he participated in ROTC. During WWII he served in the US Army in the South Pacific. Married Margaret O’Neal in 1947 and both were active at Mikado Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and ‘piddling’ around workshop and building materials creating wood and plexiglas items for himself and others. As a young adult he was employed under Mr. E. C. Kent at Hellmans Best Foods/National Biscuit Company. Later he went to work at Martin Venetian Blind & Shade Company and remained there for many years. He became affectionately known as, ‘The Blind Man’. When the business closed, the Bibb County Board of Education purchased the equipment and he went to work there building and repairing blinds for the Bibb County Schools. He retired at the age of 72. Margaret died in 1990 and he married Mary Kull Sherwood in 1998. He was 80 and Mary was 78. He brought so much love, joy and laughter to Mary and her family. He loved to tell a good clean joke and would pull a prank in a heart beat. He was faithful and loving to be by Mary’s side as she journeyed the devastation of Alzheimer’s Disease. Her last 3 years, he visited her in the nursing home everyday. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 23, at 1:00 PM, in Evergreen Cemetery.
He is survived by daughter, Jennifer Sherwood Braswell (Tim, also deceased) and grandson, Kent O’Neal Braswell (Paige), as well as one sister, Connie (Charles) Davis. He was loved, appreciated, cared for by his ‘daughters’, Linda Kull Fountain (Jim) of Jesup, GA and Janet Kull Stewart (Doyle) of Augusta who also survive him.
Predeceased by parents, sister Angeline (Joseph) Clay, brothers, Jack Sherwood, Harry (Sarah) Sherwood, and Cason Sherwood, Jr. Also predeceased by an infant son, Traywick Kent.
