Obituary for Barbara Swords

Barbara Gail Swords, 77, of Macon, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, December 26, 2022. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd, Macon, Ga, 31216. Grave Side Services to honor her life will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, 2:00 p.m. CST at Corinth Baptist Church on Rose Road in Albertville, Alabama where Mrs. Swords will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Swords was born on January 28, 1945, in Albertville, Alabama to the late Louie V. Coe and Stella Irene Hilsman Coe. She worked the majority of her life as Court Management Clerk for Macon-Bibb County Superior Court. In her free time, she enjoyed working in the yard, cooking for family, reading on the couch with her beloved doggie, Frankie, watching any show Animal Plant would play, and loving on her great-grandchildren. She was a small, but feisty, woman with unwavering trust in the Lord through her final moments.


Mrs. Swords was preceded in death by her parents Louie & Irene Coe and her brother Bobby Joe Coe. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 59 years, James Edwin Swords; her daughter, Rachel Pennington; two granddaughters, Katelyn (Ronnie) Barton and Jamie (Taylor) Davis; two grandsons, Justin Ennis & Chad Ennis; five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Landyn, & Addison Barton, Maddison Wealot, and Tucker James Davis and her sister Sherry Lynn Ennis.


16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
