Obituary for Bernice Wood
Bernice Wood, 73, of Lizella, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Pastor, Ronnie Hollis officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Wood was born on May 22, 1949, in Cochran, Georgia, to the late Mr. Eunie B. Hobbs and Mrs. Laverne Long Hobbs. She was a member of Mercy Grove Baptist Church in Macon. Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and a devoted wife, who made a living, providing a loving and caring home for her family. Family was everything to her, she never missed a family member’s birthday and would take the time to call them to sing them “Happy Birthday.” She was lovingly known as “Aunt B” to the numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, that she helped raise. In her free time, Mrs. Wood liked to play board games, especially Yahtzee and cheer on her beloved Atlanta Braves, as she was their number one fan.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Wood.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband of 56 years, George Clifton Wood; sons, Stacy Wood (Shirley) and Tony Wood (Sandy); grandchildren, Britany, Christin, Hannah, Tresa, Tiffany, Joshua, and Kaylee; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Bass (Jack) and Jerry Hobbs.
