Obituary for Charles Samuel Melton Sr.
Charles Samuel Melton, Sr., 80, of Macon, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. A celebration of Mr. Melton’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 15, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Lyles officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mr. Melton was born on May 5, 1941, in Dublin, Georgia, to the late Charlie Dennard Melton and Georgia Edna Jones Melton. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Melton was formerly employed with Lockheed Martin and McDonald Douglas. He retired from Robins Air Force Base, where he worked as a radiologist. In his free time, Mr. Melton liked to read and fish. He was always the life of the party, loving to laugh and joke.
Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Marie Garnett Sams Melton; son, Joseph(Jody)Dennard Melton; and brother, Bennett Quimby Melton.
Left to cherish Mr. Melton’s memory is his daughter, Judy Batson (Keith); son, Charles Samuel Melton, Jr., daughter in-law April Melton; grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Melton, Charles Samuel Melton, III, Jena Casas (Keegan), Lana Boothe (Casey), Brad Batson (Kristia), Justin Batson, Taylor McCullum (Jesse), Devyn Melton, and Alex Conner; great-grandchildren, Colin, Kris, Aylah, Alli, Dakota, Casen, Caden, Landon, Jordan, Jade, Kenzie, Carson, and Gracie; sisters, Magaline Thames, Jonnie Gordy, and Sally Domer (Truman); brother, Mason Hugh Melton (Betty); and many nieces and nephews.
