Obituary for Charles Claiborne Vandhitch

Charles Claiborne Vandhitch of Macon, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. A funeral service to honor his life will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. The family invites friends to join them one hour prior to the service for a time of visitation. Immediately following the service, Mr. Vandhitch will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Jacob Green will officiate the services.

Mr. Vandhitch was born in Colonial Heights, Virginia on June 29, 1941 to the late Wallace Turvin Vandhitch and Margaret Sholes Skinner. He was long time employee of 32 years with Brown and Williamson before retiring. Charles was a devoted golfer who spent most of his free time on the green. He enjoyed taking his grandkids often and created many friendships and memories on the course. Mr. Vandhitch could find joy in every sport, spending countless hours cheering on his favorite teams on the television. Above all, his family was the light of his life. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Charles Claiborne Vandhitch, Jr.; grandson, Andrew Scott; and all of his siblings.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 61 years, Loretta Esther Redd Vandhitch; daughter, Esther Jean Davis (Mark); grandchildren, Amanda Gayle Washington, Rebecca Lynn Vandhitch, Loretta “Lori” Nicole Williams, Nathan Wayne Davis; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Logan, Tanner, Elijah and Huntlin.
