Obituary for GySgt. Ernest W. Robinson, USMC (Ret.)

GySgt. Ernest William Robinson USMC (Ret.), 83, of Lizella, passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. The family will have a time of visitation to greet friends on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home. Services to honor his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Immediately following the service, Mr. Robinson will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Mr. Robinson was born on December 10, 1938 in Dublin, Georgia to the late Lewis Blanton Robinson, Sr. and Naomi Clyde Peacock. Mr. Robinson was a proud Marine who loved our country until the very end; he began his service in 1955 and served with honor for 20 years before his retirement attaining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He spent two tours in Vietnam and well as time in the Panama Canal. After his time in the service, he worked as a mechanic for Stanford Refrigeration. His love for the military lead him to become a past Commandant of the Marine Corp League chapter 970 for Macon, where he was a founding member. In his free time, Mr. Robinson liked to read and watched the news religiously, always being informed on the current events. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and great grandchildren.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Marie Upshaw Brown, Peggy Jean Robinson, and Lewis B. Robinson, Jr., as well as his children; Sheila Robinson, Sharon Robinson, and Shannon Robinson.
He is survived by his loving family. His wife of 62 years, Dona Robinson. Children; Christian Blanton Robinson (Eva) and Karla Jean Robinson Chidester (Michael). Four grandchildren and five great grandchildren and one sister, Judy Warren.
