Obituary for Flora Ann Allen Bailey

Flora Ann Allen Bailey, 87, of Macon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 4, 2023. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, February 6, at Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, with Pastor, Phil Skelton and Dr. Brad Marchman officiating. Immediately following, Mrs. Bailey will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.

Mrs. Bailey was born September 13, 1935, in Folkston, Georgia, to the late Mr. Arthur Allen and Mrs. Jessie Sikes Allen. She was a member of Lawrence Drive Baptist Church. Mrs. Bailey was heavily involved with their Agape Senior Group, Heirlooms Group, and Ruth Bible Sunday School Class. She retired from Robins Air Force Base after a lengthy career, where she worked in finance. Mrs. Bailey was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks. She spent much of her free time cooking, baking, and playing card games with her friends. Mrs. Bailey loved her family, but most of all adored her grandchildren. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Samuel E. Bailey, Jr.; grandson, Jordan Herndon; and daughter-in-law, Vonda Bailey.

Left to cherish Mrs. Bailey’s memory are her daughters, Carol Cantrell (Jack) and Diane Canady; son, Allen Bailey; grandchildren, Kelly Sharp (Justin), Bryan Canady (Autumn), David Canady (Madeline), Allana Spofford (Kyle); six great-grandchildren with one on the way; and her beloved fur babies, Beau and Max.

The family will graciously accept flowers or donations can be made in Mrs. Bailey’s honor to: Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, 5774 School Road, Macon, Georgia 31216; Paul Anderson Youth Home, 1603 McIntosh Street, Vidalia, Georgia 30474; or a charity of the donors choosing.
