Obituary for Fred Douglas Walker Sr.
Fred Douglas Walker Sr. 78, of Lizella, Georgia passed away Monday, January 31, 2022. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Worship Center at Lizella Baptist Church. Pastor Chris Minton and Pastor Rick Parsons will officiate. The family will have a time of visitation on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. till service time in the Worship Center.
Born in Byron, Georgia, he was the son of the late Woodrow Jasper Walker and Lizzie Sadonia Jones Walker. He was a member of the Lizella Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Dave Slater Sunday School Class.
Mr. Walker was employed as a outside salesman with Riverside Ford, and was retired from Ralston-Purina and Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company. Fred was a Crawford County Commissioner for four years, including one year as the Chairman of the Commissioners. He was also instrumental in establishing the Crawford County High School football program and the Crawford County Youth football program. Mr. Walker loved people and loved telling everyone about his most prized blessing – His Family.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Graham Walker, Children, Doug Walker(Ginnie) and Donnie Walker(Kristy); Siblings, Irene Venable and Charles Walker(Pat); grandchildren, Jill Hembree(Jake), Jennifer Matticola(Cory), Will Walker(Tina), Jordan Walker(Lauren), Alex Smith (Will) and Dani Walker. Great grandchildren, Brady Hembree, Maddox Hembree, Beckett Matticola, Callye Ann Matticola, Eli Walker and Asa Walker.
