Obituary

James Lewis “Jimmy” Lowery Jr. 56, of Byron, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in Byron Baptist Church. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the church.
Jimmy was a Deacon with Byron Baptist Church where he was a member since 1986 serving the Lord faithfully in many areas. Jimmy was always available to his church with giving of his time, talents or money. He attended almost every time the doors were open and always was quick to add an “AMEN” when needed for the sermon.
Jimmy was a coach with several rec departments and “practically coached every kid in the county.” The kids he coached affectionately referred to him as Coach Jimmy. He wasn’t just their coach on the field but kept up with them for many years to come.
Jimmy was THE BEST food salesman. He was loved by everyone as he never met a stranger. Customers quickly became friends with many being loyal to him for his entire career. Many of his customers became like family to us and are loved so dearly.
Surviving Family names Loving wife “Sugar” as he always called her (Cheryl), Son Trey (Shea) Lowery of Coralville, IA, daughter Lauren Lowery of Byron, GA, father Lewis Lowery of Byron, GA mother-in-law Betty Sims of Byron, GA, niece Nikki Duggar of Eton, GA and great niece Kayleigh Duggar of Eton, GA, along with lots of uncles, aunts, and cousins. Also survived by the queen of the home, Piper, their toy poodle which is loved so much.
He was preceded in death by his Paternal grandparents Fred & Lorene Lowery, maternal grandparents Pledger & Floyce Dodd, wonderful mother Jeanne Lowery who just passed the evening before him.
Jimmy's current goal was to see an awning built at church so to help support his goal donations can be made to:

Jimmy and I have been connected since the beginning of my career with PFG. We quickly recognized that we had a bond as brothers in Christ. Of course everybody knows how passionate he was about selling food. But not everybody knows how deep his passion was for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jimmy and I were partners and prayers warriors for a good many years. The Friday before he passed , He called me and asked what I needed for prayer. (this happened often, either with a quick text, email or FB. ) He requested for prayer for his Mom wife and family . We prayed together that very moment. In tears we hung up and said, we are family and I love you bro. He was such a joy and big on life, but make no mistake, he was more excited about being a follower of Christ. With that, I am united with all his family and friends, Jimmy saying you will be missed will barely cover the depth and width of how we feel about your departure. But Hallelujah brother your home and i can't wait to see you again. Much love and respect. Cheryl what ever you need just call me. REALLY

I am so sorry to hear about Jimmy, and Jeanne. Having worked with Jimmy for many years, you learned real quick that he was a true and passionate person. He was honest and quick to share his life story with anyone. He never met a stranger, and he was quick to give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Your family is in our prayers, and it goes without saying that Jimmy will be missed but never forgotten.
