Obituary for Jeanelle "Nell" Day (Smith)
Jeanelle “Nell” Smith Day, 83, of Macon, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 23, at 11:00 AM at Snow Hill Cemetery, 1725 Snow Hill Church Rd., Gordon, Georgia, 31031. The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 22, at FairHaven Funeral Home.
Mrs. Day was born on February 11, 1938, in Wrightsville, Georgia, to the late Lewis Smith and Wanelle Evans Smith. She was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church, where she attended the Faith Sunday School Class. Mrs. Day loved taking care of her husband before he passed and cooking. She was a wonderful mama and nanny.
Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ronald Raymond Day; sisters, Annette Kyzer, Margarete Kersey, and Shirley Burchmore; and brother, Marvin Smith.
Mrs. Day is survived by her children, Wayne Day (Jerri), Diane Davis (Billy), Tina Benge, and Bonnie Wingers (Donnie); 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marlene Johnson (Don); brother, Sidney Smith (Susan); and numerous nieces and nephews.
