Obituary for Jimmy H. Bennett

Jimmy H. Bennett, 86, of Macon, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 22, 2022. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 28, at 3:00 PM in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ronnie Hollis officiating. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday, January 27, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at FairHaven Funeral Home.

Mr. Bennett was born on June 22, 1935, in Milner, Georgia, to the late Eldred and Frances Bennett. He graduated from Lanier Highschool and was a member of the Army National Guard. He retired from Armstrong World Industries after 50 plus years of service. He was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church. His hobbies included playing baseball in his younger years and he was an avid, golf player. In his free time, he loved to watch golf and old western shows and movies.

Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Bryant Bennett; daughters, Sandra Gayle Peavy and Sheryl Denise Huff; and six siblings.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his children, Roselyn Thaggard, Joseph E. McGrotha, and Ross Eugene McGrotha; grandchildren, Wm. Travis Birdsong, Angela R. Birdsong, Ricky Peavy, Michelle Peavy, Nicole Cantrell, Christopher Bohannon, and Tomi Martin; great-grandchildren, Penelope Toellner and eight others; and sister, Mary Nell Miller.
