Obituary for John Paul Bolden

John Paul Bolden, 94 of Macon, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. The family will have a time of visitation from 10:00 am till service time in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Liberty Church Macon Cemetery (formerly Liberty United Methodist Church). Pastor Jack Osburn will officiate.

Born in Macon, he was the son of the late Paul Lester Bolden Sr, and Mozell Arnold Bolden. He was the fifth child of their seven children and later was blessed with two more brothers from his widowed dad’s second marriage to Sue Smith Bolden. He worked his way up to become a supervisor of the board mill at Armstrong World Industries (formerly Armstrong Cork Company) and retired with over 39 years of dedicated service. He was a handyman extraordinaire and loved to tinker in his garage and around the house. Before computer technology advanced beyond his skills, he did his own repairs on cars, appliances, and other mechanical devices. His mind never stopped working and he was innovative and creative in problem solving during his entire lifetime. In his younger years, he loved taking his family for rides on his pontoon boat and going fishing. Even though he was legally blind with macular degeneration, he still managed to keep his bird feeders full and enjoyed the hummingbirds and other birds that would fly up to his window. He had a friend in the next-door neighbor’s German shepherd, Cheyenne, who would come running when he saw him come outside to give him table scraps and dog treats.
Mr. Bolden was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, the Moose Club, the National Rifle Association, and Rutland Masonic Lodge #298.
