Obituary for John David Carpenter Sr.

John (Jack) Carpenter of Warner Robins, Georgia, transitioned from his earthly life of 86 years into his eternal life with his heavenly Father on Friday, May 18, 2021.

Jack was born in Fonda, New York on July 29, 1934 as the eighth child of Milton Carpenter and Luella Hoffman Carpenter. Jack spent his younger life in the Fonda/Fultonville, New York communities surrounded by loving family and friends. Jack worked for the Carpenter’s Union in Upstate New York and eventually moved to West Fulton, New York where he started his own pulp cutting business. He enjoyed being in the woods working and many times his children were in the woods helping him cut down trees and haul out wood. He moved to Macon, Georgia in July, 1991 and married his wife Jackie Carpenter on June 25, 1992. Jack was a superintendent at America’s Home Place Builders for many years. He retired at the age of 72 and went to work with his son Eric Carpenter. Jack continued to work side by side with his son until just two and a half short years ago. He loved having a hammer in one hand and a nail in the other. He loved fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors. He was a lifetime member of Bass Classics.

Jack was loved by so many people. He was well respected and looked up to.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Jacqueline Carpenter (Humphrey), his parents, Milton Carpenter and Luella Carpenter (Hoffman). Sisters and brothers that have preceded him in death are: Geraldine Carpenter, Gertrude Carpenter, Harry Carpenter, Kenneth Carpenter, Eddie Carpenter, Doris Carpenter, Helen Carpenter, Grace Carpenter, Rhoda Carpenter, and Lena Carpenter. Two sons have preceded him in death are: Jeffrey Carpenter and Hondo Carpenter. One grandson Edgar Carpenter Jr.

He is survived by his sister Phyllis Calkins (Jerry) his sons: Edgar Carpenter, Sr. (Lanita), John D. Carpenter, Jr. (Beverly), Timothy Carpenter, Eric Carpenter (Vanessa), and Malcom Carpenter (Robin). His step-children: Dennis Smith (Becky), Denice Thorne (Michael), Dean Smith (Gina Lynn), Deana Wheeler (Jeremy) several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday May 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Fair Haven Funeral Home in Macon. GA. The family will be at John’s home at 102 Brookwood Dr., Warner Robins, GA following the service for guests to stop by.
