Obituary for John Henry Clance Jr.

John Henry Clance Jr., also known as Big John and Paw Paw, 72, of Lizella, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his wife and children. He was the son of John Henry Sr. and Louise Scarbary Clance and born on Mother’s Day, May 14, 1950, at the Macon Hospital. His parents and his wife, Marguerite Helms Clance, preceded him in death.

Those who are left to cherish his memories are his wife, Wanda Rodgers Clance, his children, Tricia Lenise Clance(Ray), John Henry Clance III, (Shelly), Steven Thomas Becham(Laura), Sandra Dawn Langelier and Angel Grace Foskey(Tommy); 24 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Dan(Julia), Hoyt(Laura) and Charles(Denise), many cousins, nieces and nephews. Brothers and Sisters in Law; Tommie Weeks (Johnny), Larry Rodgers (Martha) and Bill Rodgers (Donita); and a big family of christian friends and supporters, especially his Sunday School Class at Lizella Baptist Church.

He worked many years as a pipefitter welder for Kent Mechanical; then for Big Johns Mechanical before retiring. In retirement he found his second career and founded the Feed and More Store and met many new friends that he cherished. He has been a member of Lizella Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a deacon, teacher of youth, singles and adult Sunday School Classes. In earlier years, he liked to hunt, fish, raise farm animals and grow vegetables. He was known as stubborn, stable, and dependable. His faith through it all was his strongest accomplishment. His greatest desire was that everyone accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

His desire was to donate his body to medical science in hopes that it would help others. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lizella Baptist Church Worship Center with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Chris Minton and Reverend Rick Parsons will conduct the services.

Flowers will be accepted.
