Obituary for Linda Garrett Fields (Garrett)
Linda Garrett Fields, 75, of Macon, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. A celebration of Mrs. Fields life will be held on Monday, April 12, at 11:00 AM at Avondale Baptist Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Fields was born on April 30, 1945, in Warner Robins, Georgia to the late Thomas Lewis Garrett and Nellie Irwin Garrett. She was a member of Avondale Baptist Church. Mrs. Garrett retired from Sears, where she worked in Loss Prevention. She loved to travel, visiting everywhere from Alaska to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. Mrs. Fields spent her free time napping and taking photos. She had an obsession for earrings, never going anywhere without having a pair on. Mrs. Fields greatest joy came from being a mama and nanny.
Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy O’Reilly and Frances Allen, and brothers, Douglas Garrett, Thomas Garrett, and Larry Garrett.
Mrs. Fields is survived by her daughter, Lisa Shumate; grandsons, Derek Register (Angel) and Jeffery Shumate (Ronda); grandchildren, Kylee and Easton Register; sisters-in-law, Miram Garrett, Nancy Garrett, and Janice Garrett; and several nieces and nephews.
