Obituary for Lois Martin (Hamlyn)

Lois Hamlyn Martin, 76, of Lizella, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022. The family will have a time of visitation on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 2:30-4:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service that will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel. Reverend Coty Thomas will officiate.For those unable to attend, service will be live streamed on Facebook at FairHaven Funeral Home-Macon.
Lois was born on October 24, 1945, in St. Johns, Newfoundland. At the young age of 20, she married the love of her life Marty and together they formed a wonderful life , raising two children. While Lois only had two biological children, she was “Mom” to many, lovingly being referred to as the “Motocross Mom” In the 1970’. Lois and Marty played a key role in bringing Motocross racing to Georgia and she was her son’s number one fan. Lois worked most of her life as a lunchroom manager for several Bibb County Schools, however this was not just a job for her, it was a true passion. She took immense pride in her job, always decorating the cafeteria for every holiday and season and taking a genuine interest in the lives of the children she saw every day. It brought her so much joy to interact with them, so much so, that after her retirement as lunchroom manager, she came back to work as a cashier. In her free time, Lois loved to yard sale. She lived for waking up early every Saturday morning to attend a estate sale or yard sale in search for a good deal. Above everything, she loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband; Ernest C. “Marty” Martin. Daughter; Karen Roberts, and two brothers; David Hamlyn and Paul Hamlyn.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving family. Her son; Tommy Martin (Amy), grandchildren; Justin Christopher Martin (Kat), Janie Lee Smith (Blake), Ashley Amanda Heenan (Terence), and McKenna Hines (Cole) as well as great grandchildren and her sisters; Sharon Mercer (Gerald) and Glenda Hamlyn (Damien Taylor).
