The family lost a beloved mother and grandmother. The world lost a wonderful soul. Martha passed peacefully at her home surrounded by much love. Mrs. Durden was born on September 19, 1925, in Cochran, Georgia to the late Horace H. Coley and Ida Evans Coley. She was a member of the Ayers Baptist Church. Mrs. Durden was the epitome of a southern lady. She was a home maker before she got where she couldn’t do it any longer. She used to enjoy walking at the Macon Mall, shopping and was so good at finding good deals, she enjoyed cooking and watching her family enjoy themselves. She lived a simple and full life, her greatest joy came from being a wife, Mom, and Granny. She could always tell you what was going on with world news and had a fantastic memory. She was loved by her family and she loved her family so much. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Mr. William Donald Durden and daughter, Opal Linda Butts. Mrs. Durden is survived by her daughter, Sheila Durden Hodgens; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and siblings, Homer Coley (Kathy) and Iva Nell Green (Homer). The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care she received from caregivers, Kathi Woodward, and Erin Singleton. Regency Southern Care Hospice was a great source of care and comfort to Mrs. Durden and her family; especially nurses Heather and Courtney.
