Mitchell Stashia Conger, 66, of Roberta, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Chris Minton, Pastor Johnny Stevens and Mr. Bernard Duckworth will officiate.
Born in Macon on January 16, 1957, He was the son of the late Harold Thomas Conger Sr. and Mary Frances Stashia Conger. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Austin Parker Conger.
Mitch was a graduate of Southwest High School in Macon, and a member of the Lizella Baptist Church, where he was an ordained deacon, and taught Sunday School for many years. He was instrumental in starting a special needs ministry at Lizella Baptist Church. Over the course of his life, Mitch held many roles in the church and has been known to help people without anyone else knowing, which is how he preferred it; leaving food on porches, installing water heaters, and refusing money, purchasing washing and dryers for people, paying rent, ect. He loved college football, especially UGA and anybody playing against Clemson, so he could pick at his sister in law, Kim.
Mitch worked 42 years for 2 companies as a project manager for industrial plumbing and HVAC systems. He oversaw the heart tower at the Navicent Atrium Healthcare and the Sports Center at Mercer University and handled multi million dollar jobs on a daily basis. He loved his work and was the best. Contractors would request him by name.
Left to miss him are his wife of 20 years, Theresa Lynn (Smith) Conger, brother, Harold Thomas Conger Jr.(Kathy), Children, Mandey (Jeffrey)Collins, Jason Conger, Jamie(David) Killingsworth, Jonathan(Ashley)Conger, brother in law, Mike Smith(Barbara), and Lamar Smith(Kim) and grandchildren, Abby and Laura Collins, Alyssa Conger, Jackson Brown, Jonah Killingsworth, Walker Conger and His beloved bulldog, Dixie.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Pine Point Hospice, 6261 Peake Road Macon, Georgia 31210. The family request attendees wear casual clothing.
