Obituary for Randall V Byrd
Randall Vastine Byrd, 69, of Lizella, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. The family will have a time of visitation one hour prior until service time. Immediately following the service, Mr. Byrd will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Lee Griffin and Pastor Benjamin Newberry will officiate.
Born in Macon, GA he was the son of the late Frank “FV” Byrd and Zelma Laverne Green Byrd. Mr. Byrd was a 3rd generation dairy farmer and in retirement, transitioned to raising beef cattle. Farming wasn’t a job to him, but a way of life passed down for generations that he’s also instilled in his sons and grandsons.
As a longtime member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, he served in many capacities, a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of the Cemetery, Finance Chairman, as well as the church handyman. Selflessly giving of his time and services in any way needed.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kaleigh Dawn Byrd and a brother, Stephen Byrd.
Left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife of 49 years, Wanda Elaine Byrd, children, Gregory Allen Byrd(Stacy) and Gerrad William Byrd(Kimberly); Grandchildren, Wyatt Allen Byrd, Landon Drake Byrd, and William Blake Byrd; siblings, Jeff Byrd(Shawn), David Byrd(Debbie), Sister in law, Belinda Byrd; nephew, Steven Dobson(Dawn) as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and church members who were like family.
