Obituary for Richard Stewart "Rickey" Hilton Sr.

Richard “Rickey” Stewart Hilton, Sr., 69, of Macon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, May 14, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, at 1:00 PM in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Mr. Nicchi Saxon officiating. The family will have a time of visitation from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, May 17, at FairHaven Funeral Home.

Rickey was born on April 14, 1952, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Willie D. Hilton, Sr., and Eula Bell Nipper Hilton. He was retired from Elliott Machine Shop, where he worked as a master steel fabricator. Rickey was saved and baptized at the age of 17, something that was incredibly special to him. He coached Little League Baseball for many years at Bloomfield Recreational Park. Rickey was an avid outdoorsman, spending much of his free time fishing. He liked to travel, especially to Daytona Beach and Theme Parks. Rickey was a Mr. Fix-it, fixing everything with duct-tape and WD-40. He was a humble man, who loved his family and would always put others first. Rickey’s greatest joy came from his nieces and nephews. There are no words to fully convey what a great loss the world has suffered.

Rickey was preceded in death by his siblings, Etheran Ellis, Katie Talmidge, Sandra Crawley, Billie Jo Moxley, Willie Hilton, Marion Hilton, Charles Hilton, and Donnie Hilton.

Rickey is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cynthia Saxon Hilton; son, Richie Hilton (Alicen); siblings, J.D. Hilton (Debbie), Jackie Floyd (Bill), Nicchi Saxon (Laura), and Shawna Mills (Donnie); nieces and nephews that he considered his own, Bethanne Saxon Trent, Holt Saxon (Kat), Jacob Holland (Margaret), Jared Holland, Abby Mills, Clint Mills (Larissa); and great nieces and nephews, Benjamin Saxon, J.C. Fruechtenicht, Masyn Trent, Ava Holland, Oliver Saxon, and Olivia Saxon.
