Obituary for Ronald Dean Taylor

Ronald “Dean” Taylor
Ft. Valley, GA – On the morning of Wednesday, March 2, Dean Taylor began walking heaven’s streets of gold, fully healed and more alive than ever. With his family by his side, he crossed over into Beulah Land, ready to be welcomed by his Savior. While here on earth, Dean loved playing golf and cherished the time he got to attend the Master’s Tournament at Augusta National with his sister-in-law. He also loved NASCAR races and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and he was a dedicated member of United Community Church where he participated in the Passion play every Easter. Dean was instrumental in starting the van ministry and continued to serve as a church bus driver for many years. He also served as sound engineer for Soul’s Desire, the singing group he and his wife founded. They enjoyed traveling and sharing God’s Word in song with Anthony Williams and Connie Filson for many years.

Dean was born in Pecos, Texas to the late Calvin Taylor and Wilma McGreggor Taylor and reared in Lizella, Georgia from a young age. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years, Linda Benningfield Taylor; his daughter, Carol Star Soto (James) and son Matthew Taylor; brothers, Dale Taylor, Dennis Taylor, and Doyle Taylor; sister, Tonya Taylor; sister-in-law Donna Nichols (Jimmy); grandsons, Dwayne Wilder, Hunter Wilder, Bo Gaddy, J.D. Gaddy and Christopher Laidler; as well as many nieces and nephews, along with his friends, both human and furry.

The family will celebrate Dean’s life and greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening, March 4 at FairHaven Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 10:00 a.m. at United Community Church in Macon with Pastor Cory Maurer officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, the church Dean grew up in and his father helped build.
