Obituary

Shara Michele Genthner, 55, of Macon, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 5, 2021. A private service for family only will be held in Andersonville National Cemetery, where Shara will be laid to rest with military honors. Shara was born on June 22, 1965 in St. Johns, Newfoundland. Shara grew up in a loving, yet proud military family. At a young age she followed in her father’s footsteps and joined the Armed Forces. Shara proudly served in the United States Army until she was injured and lead to her discharge. She was an adventurous free spirit and loved to travel. It would be nothing for her to pick up and visit wherever her heart lead her. She loved animals especially her dog. In her free time, Shara liked to read, and watch T.V.

Shara was preceded in death by her father; Howard Kenneth Genthner, her daughter; Nikki Graves, her brother; Michael Genthner and sister; Donna Maria Genthner.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving family; Her mother; Dorothy Anne Genthner. Siblings; Judith Samuels (Lee), Robin Simmons (Phil), Scott Genthner (Sherry), Kenniane Tull (John), several nieces, nephews, and special friend; Mike Hudson

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations please be made in Sharas honor to either the Disabled American Veterans at www.secure.dav.org or The Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. Box 78516, Topeka, Kansas, 66675

Shara was my best-friend for 41 years. She was like a sister to me. We had a lot of memories together happy and sad, we always laughed about something. No matter if she was flying to another country or living 1,000's of miles away we always stayed in touch. Shara was the most adventurous person i knew, she loved life, animals and her family. And she loved her daughter and missed her every day. She loved her country and she served. Shara was a wonderful person. I will miss you my BFF!!! You have your beautiful wings now and your with your daughter!! Your dreams have come true!!!
