Obituary for Sherrill "S.K" Kemp Smith, Sr.

Sherrill Kemp Smith, Sr. or “S.K.” as he was lovingly known, 88 of Macon, Georgia, joined his loving wife in Heaven on December 7, 2023. The family will have a time of visitation on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home. Funeral Services to honor his life will be held on December 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church; 4256 Hartley Bridge Rd Macon, Georgia 31216. Immediately following the service, Mr. Smith will be laid to rest in Shiloh Church Cemetery. Reverend Josh Gale, Reverend Robert Webb and Reverend Austin Sturdivant will officiate.

Mr. Smith was born on March 25, 1935, in Crawford County, Ga, to the late Samuel Lloyd Smith Sr. and Mattie Lee Hancock. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Annie Elizabeth Sorrell Smith, daughter Debra Ruth Hall, granddaughter Debra Lee Heald, brothers S.L., Kyle, Glen, and Johnnie Smith, sisters Myrtle Fausnight, Tavie Allen, and son in-law David Harp.

Mr. Smith owned and operated Smith Realty and Auction and S.K. Smith Realty and Associates for many years. He was in the real estate business for 60 years. He was a dedicated A man of heart and soul, Sherrill was not just a husband or father; he was the patriarch of the family. He loved unconditionally, kept the ties of kinship strong, and never let anyone doubt his love for them. He put others unselfishly before himself and had unwavering faith and love for those closest to him. In his free time, he loved music, whether singing, attending the opera or playing the harmonica, it truly brought him great joy. Mr. Smith was a faithful member of the Mickey Fuller Masonic Lodge #720 F.&A.M. where he served for over 50 years.

Survivors include daughter; Theresa Harp, Kathy Criswell David Cook), Vickie Logue (Scott), and Kristy Ard. Sons; Sherrill K Smith, Jr. (Elizabeth Batchelor), and Steve Smith (Jacopa). Twenty-one grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren; Sister: Ruth Williamson and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
