Obituary for Tommy Jewel Gunter

Tommy Jewel Gunter, 80, of Macon, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. The family will have a time of visitation to greet friends on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home. Funeral Services to honor his life will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. with Pastor Johnny Baggett officiating. Immediately following the service, Tommy will be laid to rest in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Tommy was born on May 12, 1942, in Watkinsville, Georgia. At the age of 19, he proudly joined the United States Army where he faithfully served for two years. After his time in the service, Tommy held several jobs including driving an 18 wheeler, and owning several rental properties in the middle Georgia area. He always worked hard to provide for his family. Tommy was the life of the party who always loved to have a good time. He was known for his extensive Karaoke collection and his Backyard Bar, T's Magnolia Room that became a local gathering spot for several years for friends to come together and sing. He also enjoyed NASCAR and watched the race every Sunday, he was a loyal Jeff Gordon fan. Tommy was a animal lover, and his children recall owning almost every animal growing up. He was a strong man, with a gentle spirit, who was always there for anyone in need. Tommy loved to see people laugh and have a good time, even at his saddest times in life, he never let anyone see him upset.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mary Gunter as well as his wife, Sue Folds and three siblings; Evelyn Lee, Peggy Sue Williams and Ann Hammonds
Left to cherish his memory is his loving family. His children; Tammy Gunter Sweet, Pam Rogers, Tommy Shane Gunter, Randi Folds (Dexter Carter), Ashley Folds, Brittany Kay (Tim Johns), Heather Kay, and Christopher Kay. 18 grandchildren, two siblings; Julia Mae Roberts and Brenda Jones, four nieces; Janice Chapman, Pam Roberts, Kim Smith and Lynn Lee, four nephews; Eddie Williams, Greg Roberts, Mike Stephens and Chris Hammonds.
