Tressie McCook Edge, 84, of Macon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 11, in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, with Doctor Brad Marchman officiating. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Ms. Edge was born on February 11, 1938, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Mr. Clyde F. McCook and Mrs. Tressie Perdue McCook. She was a charter member of Lawrence Drive Baptist Church. Ms. Edge was the youngest of eight children and a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved to play cards, read books, and spend time with her precious Magnolia Manor friends.
Ms. Edge was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jack W. Edge, Sr.; sisters, Kay McCook Sasser, Ava McCook Swails Sapp, Clyde La Faye McCook Swails, and Mildred McCook Fitzgibbons; and brothers, Charles McCook and Horace McCook.
Ms. Edge is survived by her son, Jack W. Edge, Jr. (Radonna); daughters, Veronica Edge Barfield (Danny) and Tammi Edge Emerick (Steve); grandchildren, Amy Phagan, Shawn Edge, Maribeth Edge, David Hubbard (Michelle), Jessica Foskey (Mark), Cody Barfield (Michelle), Logan Emerick (Heather), and Zack Emerick (Katherine); 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Barbara McCook Parham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to show the sincere gratitude to, Mattie Standifer and Janeen Thomas, for the wonderful care they provided to Ms. Edge. You both are angels in every sense of the word.
