Obituary for Vickie Jean Glisson (Slappey)

Vickie Jean Slappey Glisson, 67, of Macon, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, at 12:00 PM at Rock Springs Church. Immediately following, Ms. Glisson will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins. The family will have a time of visitation one hour prior to service time at the church.

Vickie was born on May 15, 1955, in Opelika, Alabama. She attended Albany High School where she played basketball until she graduated. She was a member of Day Star Church of God. Vickie was a unique, caring, and loving friend to many people, who she enjoyed spending time with often. She was known to always lend a helping hand, and many times gave you something to always be a reminder of her and her friendship. Vickie was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.

Vickie was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Ricky Scott Glisson, Sr.; father, Paul Slappey; brother, Paul Reese Slappey; grandparents, Aaron Reese Evans, Sr, Ernest Duvard Slappey, Jr., Julia Rena Aldrich Evans, Louvinia Culpepper Slappey.

Vickie is survived by her children, Eva Joyce McInvale and Ricky Scott Glisson, Jr.; grandchildren, Hannah, Emily and David; mother, Eva Evans Slappey; sisters, Mary Catherine Lenderman (Raymond) and Cynthia Slappey Hayes (Ricky); sister-in-law, Sheila Dale, Libby Slappey; brother-in-law, Timothy Glisson; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
