Obituary for William Sylvester "Syl" Holley

William Sylvester “Syl” Holley, passed away at his home in Lizella, Georgia at the age of 81. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 19, at 11:00 AM at Lizella Baptist Church Cemetery.

Syl was born on May 7, 1939, in Byron, Georgia. He was retired from the City of Macon, Georgia. Starting as a plumbing inspector and continued in the plumbing department. Syl was a master plumber and was in business with Lee Becham for years before going to work with the city of Macon. He loved playing golf in his free time and made a lot of good golfing buddies. Even making a hole in one once. In his earlier years he joined the army and spent his military time stationed in France. Syl was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family has a lot of fun memories to cherish.

Syl was preceded in death and now united with his parents, Virlene Holley Thomason and Barney D. Holley, and brother Horace Holley.

Syl is survived by his wife of 54 years, MaryAnn Carswell Holley; daughter, Lisa Oxley (Leonard) of Lizella; son, Brad Holley (Billie) of Lizella; four grandchildren, Leonard, Tommy and Hunter Oxley, as well as Angel Deason; sister, Joy Goad (Olie) of Dry Branch; brother, Barney D. Holley (Irene) of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews which Syl had a special and loving relationship.
