Obituary for Herschel Whittle, Sr.
Herschel Whittle, Sr., 82, of Macon, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday November 2nd at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. Pastor Billy Flowers will officiate. The family will greet friends and family one hour prior to service time.
Herschel was born on June 17th 1940 in Jasper FL. Son of the late John Oscar Whittle and Evelyn McCard Whittle. He was a loving father and has been married to, and is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bobbie Jean Whittle. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary on March 24th, 2023. After years of being an auto mechanic, Herschel and a partner decided to open their first automotive Body Shop in 1978. After 26 years in the repair industry in 2004 he retired from PioNono Collision body shop. In his early years, he raced stock cars for Jackson Oldsmobile. Herschel enjoyed being outdoors, motorcycling, camping, boating, and fishing with his family. He was a man that loved life, and you would see his smile coming before seeing him.
Herschel was preceded in death by a son William Darren Whittle; brother, John Anthony Whittle; and brother-in-law, Gene Edge.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years BJ Whittle, children; Paula Whittle Owens(Greg), Edward Darrell Whittle, William Herschel Whittle Jr, and Amber Latessa Pate(Mic); Grandchildren, include Keegan Spell (Brandy), Keeley Wilkes(Ryan), Kade Roberts, Chace Rowe, Ashlyn Sapp, Brody Sapp, Slade Whittle, Tanner Pate, Kasey Thompson(Tyler), Alexis Pate and Zachary Pate; Great grandchildren include, Dalton Spell, Remi Spell, Tyson Spell, Maddox Wilkes, Nash Wilkes and Koe Wilder Thompson; and sister Joann "Cookie" Whittle Edge.
