Message: Mark, Today, August 20th, is your birthday. You would have been 46 years old. I miss you more than you, or I, ever thought possible. Happy Birthday knucklehead. I love you. Your brother, Paul --------------------------------------------------------- It has been said that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to be a silent participant in every act, thought, and decision we make. Last night at the grocery store, I saw a chocolate cake with chocolate icing, his favorite birthday cake. Mom would make him one every year, preferably made from Betty Crocker Cake-Mix in a box and topped with Betty Crocker icing from a plastic can with red lid. Mom occasionally tried something different. One time she used the yellow cake mix. Unh-uh, nah. He preferred chocolate cake under the chocolate icing. One year she made icing from sugar, butter, and chocolate syrup to drizzle on top. Of course he ate the cake, but we knew he preferred the chocolate Betty Crocker pre-made icing. Yesterday, I was enjoying probably the best burger I've ever eaten: a double-double 'animal style' burger with grilled onions from In-N-Out Burger. I remember thinking, Mark will never be able to taste this. It's been difficult for all of his relatives and friends... so I want to thank you for your kind words over the last few months and taking the time to share your memories of Mark with us. Your words are such a comfort. Our mom & dad: Polly & Gene, and Terri & Mark's daughter Abby, and I, along with his aunts & uncles: Hazel, Jane & Kelvin, Jerrie & Johnny, Patsy, Trudy, and first-cousins: Brian, Chris, Cindy, Kim, Kip, Jody, John-John, Judy, Randy, Reggie, Stevie, and Wayne will forever be grateful. Friends like you have helped our family get through this difficult time. As Mark's Brother, I find comfort in knowing that my life has been enriched from sharing and experiencing Mark's love of life. He was charismatic, fun-loving, sweet, and generous. His zest for life, his love of fun, and his ability to find the humor in every situation will leave an imprint in all of our memories. Mark was always the life of the party, any party, and I know he's in Heaven right now making jokes and keeping them all laughing.
